The ROI of Conversation

What's the ROI of a podcast about affordable housing?

Sure, a podcast doesn't build a housing unit. It doesn't issue a voucher. It doesn't even close a financing deal.

But here's what it does do: it opens up the table and shares solutions.

Every week on the Forbes Quadel podcast “ChangeMakers,” I get to sit across from the movers and shakers in the affordable housing industry. I’m talking to the developers, the “money”, the executive directors of housing authorities, and nonprofit partners.

And once we're in conversation, the value compounds from there. A housing authority in one city learns from a developer in another city. A banker hears something from a nonprofit leader that changes the dealflow. And so on.

That's the ROI.
We're in an housing affordability crisis. The answer isn't fewer conversations. It's better conversations.

So would I grab that microphone again? Without hesitation.

Audacity is refusing to wait for permission to sit at the table.

So, I built one of my own.
