“Homelessness is not an identity. It is a conditional moment, a point in time.
And conditions can change.”
Leading with Purpose: My TEDx Experience
Opening up on the TEDx stage was one of the hardest—and most meaningful—things I’ve ever done. Sharing my personal story wasn’t easy, but I did it because the need for affordable housing is too important to stay silent.
The vulnerability I showed in that talk is the same vulnerability I bring to how I lead. I believe in leading with compassion, listening first, and understanding the real challenges people face. My experiences have shaped not just my work, but how I show up for others every day.
If my story can inspire even one person to think differently about homelessness or to give a hand up (not a handout) to someone else, it was worth every moment.
I hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch and reflect on how we can all lead with empathy and purpose.
