Homeless to Housing CEO

Katie Goar on the TEDX stage discussing affordable housing, advocacy, handups not handouts, homeless is a point in time not an identity, lifes setbacks do not define your future.

Hand me a microphone, and I’ll gladly talk about affordable housing all day. But sharing my personal experience with housing insecurity? That is a whole new level - and on the TEDx stage?!?! It’s these moments of vulnerability that fuel my “why” and drive the work I do every day at Quadel.

Here are a few of the lessons that shaped my journey from fear to courage, from uncertainty to purpose, and from early challenges to a mission-driven life:
👉 affordable housing is a hand up, not a handout
👉 one person can make a difference for those in need
👉 homelessness is a point in time and not an identity
👉 life's setbacks don't define your future

Let’s rethink affordable housing together and challenge our assumptions about those who rely on it.

Thank you Mark Thiele, George Guy, Jeff Bischoff, April Bordeau, Tanya Dempsey, and my Quadel hype squad for your support during this process!
