4:15 AM Lessons: Turning Mistakes into Systems
I made a rookie mistake even though ๐ต๐ฆ๐ค๐ฉ๐ฏ๐ช๐ค๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐บ I'm not a rookie.
Daylight Savings Time - definitely ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ต the week for a 5:15am departure and early flight. My whole being knew it was really 4:15am. Coffee was consumed. And for every meeting, my go-to phrase was: โwant to grab coffee?โ
After getting up and brushing off from a mistake, take a minute to ask:
๐Could it have been avoided?
๐What was known ahead of time but overlooked?
๐Were there signs and systems in place?
AND
๐Did I ๐ฅ๐๐๐ซ๐ง and course correct?
I train staff at Quadel to navigate a world of unknowns. Itโs easy to hyperfocus on what went wrong, but perfection isnโt the goal. Instead, we build better frameworks:
๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐ฆ๐๐ข๐ ๐ฎ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ โ ask better questions, establish checklists, standardize processes.
๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฌ โ ensure the game plan is clear, the goal is attainable, and thereโs a process for reshuffling.
๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ง๐ญ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐๐ฌ โ define how performance is measured, establish escalation protocols, and align improvement plans with timelines.
And yes, Daylight Savings Time is now marked on my 2026 calendar. ๐
