Prioritizing Employee Engagement

The scripts that say public sector employee engagement isn’t a priority need flipped.

Recently, for the Public Housing Authorities Directors Association Commissioners’ Conference, I put together a panel of women affordable housing changemakers and we were invited to open the conference by urging our peers to proactively:

-Survey employees, find out what’s working and what’s not

-Realize it’s past time to formalize policies, communication methods, and performance standards

-Find funding-appropriate, low-cost ways to generate rapport, fun, and trust

Our communities deserve an engaged workforce, compliant programs, and stellar results.

This is not a shoulder shrug “meh, what can be done” moment. The mission at hand is too great!
