Gold in the Grind

I'm practicing nonstop for an upcoming speaking event. I've been walking around with notecards in the evening. And my daughter has thoughts on how well it’s (not) going. “Zombie eyes,” she said. Ouch. Nailed it?!?

Our kids are always watching ... absorbing everything.
But it’s not just our kids.
Our peers, clients, and partners see and feel how we show up - in the way we collaborate and deliver results.

Recently, our team helped a housing authority go from Troubled to High Performer. From a 15-point score to a solid 100. From floundering to compliant and responsive to the community.

It didn’t happen overnight.
It took time, a solid plan, the right people, stronger systems, consistent monitoring, and a willingness to recalibrate along the way.

That’s the kind of “practice makes progress” story I love.

In affordable housing, ribbon cuttings get the spotlight.
But the 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝-𝐭𝐡𝐞-𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 of fixing/preventing bottlenecks, building systems, changing outcomes - 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐬.

Much like consistent practicing 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 grabbing that microphone.
