Advice for the Unmotivated
Recently, someone asked me what advice I’d give to underachievers and those feeling unmotivated.
At first, I paused – not sure of the context, nor how to respond. Was this related to employees? Students? Someone stuck in a rut personally, or professionally?
Here’s what I shared in that open forum:
✅ 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭
Make sure you’re not comparing your goals or achievements with someone else’s highlight reel. Your journey is unique and so is the definition of what it means to thrive.
✅ 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡
Many times, I have been told “no” to various paths, options. But it was up to me to create the course with my vision. Not the vision others had of me.
✅ 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤
An amazing cure for a lack of motivation? Volunteer your time, energy, or skills. Whatever way this may materialize - lend a hand to someone in need. Getting out of your own headspace can be transformative.
What’s your go-to for shaking off a slump?
