The Crucial Reality of Best Practice Sharing

A hand drips water onto a growing green plant in the dirt

Recently, someone in the industry pulled me aside and recalled a significant mistake made nearly 20 years ago, naming everyone that was involved. The mistake was clearly still fresh in their mind.

I could have:

🚫 refuted their version of the facts, explaining how it conflicted with internal versions passed down over the years

🚫 pointed out that no one from that project works for us anymore

🚫 asked why it still mattered after all these years

🚫 stated the obvious that I wasn't even around then

Instead, I listened ...

In the end, this person shook my hand. I would like to think we both learned about growth.
