Start Before Youโ€™re Ready

๐‚๐จ๐ง๐Ÿ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง: ๐ˆ ๐๐ข๐๐งโ€™๐ญ ๐ฐ๐š๐ง๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐จ๐ง ๐‹๐ข๐ง๐ค๐ž๐๐ˆ๐ง.
Then came a nudge from Eric Wolking who said: โ€œYou should get out there.โ€ I had maybe 200 followers, barely any engagement, and more hesitation than confidence.

It felt intimidating. Exposing.
I wasnโ€™t sure my style really fit the LinkedIn prime time vibe.

And the looming question so many of us get stuck on:
โ€œ๐–๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ ๐ˆ ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ง ๐ฌ๐š๐ฒ?โ€

Like anything unfamiliar, skill builds with repetition.
๐Ÿ”น So, I started small. Began putting in the reps.
๐Ÿ”น I followed people I admired.
๐Ÿ”น Observed quietly. In one case, it was a year before I chimed in.
๐Ÿ”น And slowly, I found my rhythm.

Were mistakes made? Heck yea.

Yet, a few things became clear:
โ†’ ๐–๐ž ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ก๐š๐ฏ๐ž ๐š ๐ฏ๐จ๐ข๐œ๐ž, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐๐จ๐งโ€™๐ญ ๐ง๐ž๐ž๐ ๐š ๐ก๐ฎ๐ ๐ž ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฐ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ž ๐ข๐ญ.

In fields like affordable housing where the stakes are high, it really does matter to share ideas, wins, lessons, and even questions. Itโ€™s also a way to remind each other that weโ€™re not doing this work alone.
