Red Pens and Realizations

When I first became President, I read 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 proposal that went out the door. From the $2K letter quote to the $25M opportunity - every. single. one.

I did this even though there was a team in place. But I often ended up missing my daughter's swim meets because I was reviewing proposals.

There were some discoveries:
➑️ I gained a better understanding of each business line and consulting project. πŸ”
➑️ Determined proposals weren’t capturing our true strengths. πŸ“‰
➑️ Realized that my inner college professor with my red pen was driving everyone nuts with edits & typo corrections. ✏️

What I 𝘀𝘩𝘒𝘯𝘨𝘦π˜₯ to get in solution mode:
βœ… Added more checks earlier in the process.
βœ… Started highlighting results, not just qualifications.
βœ… Stepped back & empowered the team to refine and surge.

Biggest lesson?

I had to let go to grow. This also helped redirect my energy for strategy. And I attended more of my kid’s events. 🌱πŸ’ͺ

Anyone else learn the hard way about career and life shifting?
