Legacy Takes Root

The peony doesn’t bloom instantly.
It has a long growth cycle and then blooms dramatically.

I wait all year to see these as they remind me of my grandmother. Her front porch was surrounded by them. In a non air conditioned house, we would often sit together outside on the porch and talk about life.

She had overcome breast cancer, an abusive husband, poverty, and on and on.

Last year the rain took the blooms down to the ground with the heaviness. This year they are holding strong.

But sometimes the storm itself is part of the alignment.

There are times when you are building something to sustain what comes next.

And that’s the motherhood moment and leadership lesson.
- Keep building anyway
- Think ahead for compounding growth
- Use the rain to realign
- Know your legacy
