From Tent to Systems

At 12 years old, I was living in a tent.

Not thinking about housing policy.
Just trying to get through the day.

I recently shared that journey on The Happy Customer Channel Podcast:

And here’s the truth I keep coming back to—

Homelessness isn’t a motivation problem.
It’s a systems problem.

Most people are closer to it than they think—one paycheck, one disruption, one shift away.

Now working inside housing systems, I see it clearly:

It’s not just about what’s designed.
It’s about how it’s run.

👉 Are we moving fast enough?
👉 Are we aligned?
👉 Are we focused on outcomes—or stuck in process?

Because the difference between failure and progress isn’t intention.

It’s execution.

Housing changes everything—stability, health, opportunity.

But only if the system actually works.

That’s the work.
