Mic check. Testing one, two. Dress rehearsal is now complete. Cue the nerves. But when affordable housing matters, you grab the microphone anyway. Even if your voice is wobbly.

Being surrounded by pioneering women reminded me how much leadership and vulnerability belong together.

We all have stories that left a mark.
Some are celebrated.
Some are carried quietly.

The experiences that once felt heavy didn’t just shape me, they wired me. And because of that, I have the power to rewire them.

Today, that feels like the real lesson.

Taking my own backstory of homelessness and housing instability, shedding my necklace of shame, and using it for a larger purpose.

Yes. A megaphone moment for affordable housing.

Katie Goar started with Quadel in 2007 and began leading the company as president in 2015.
