From Root Canal to Real Security

Can your playlist and internal scripts hold up for a root canal?
In the middle of a series of dental implosions, that was the question echoing in my head this week as I landed in the chair of doom.

The reality was less than encouraging:
- “You’re not responding to the anesthesia.”
- “90% of these go smoothly… you’re in the other 10%.”
- “This is probably the third worst case I’ve seen.”

I even heard ... “you have a lot of nerve.” 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘳.

My only ally? My three-hour playlist that started to backfire:
🎵 Barely Breathing – Duncan Sheik (accurate)
🎵 I Ain’t Worried – OneRepublic (not true)
🎵 Can’t Feel My Face – The Weeknd (also not true)
🎵 Crash Into Me – Dave Matthews (too true)
🎵 Summertime Sadness – Lana Del Rey (nailed it)
🎵 Pour Me a Drink – Post Malone (yes, please)

Somewhere between drilling and tugging, my body was fighting the meds. Not feeling safe. My internal scripts were being tested.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐲 𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲.

When your whole being is desperate for relief and stability, but the systems meant to provide it don’t seem to “take” ... and then you’re left straining to survive.

When what you really need is safety and stability.

Resilience matters. But systems that actually work matter even more.

And this is why housers and our Quadel team keep going.
