Climbing Mt. Rainier
A couple of decades ago, I climbed Mt. Rainier (WA) ... training for months, equipped with a guide, and ready to tackle the staggering 14,000+ foot elevation. Mountaineering while tied to other people for safety. But what arose beyond my control were obstacles from: the daily weight of the pack, the ice axe calluses, and being pinned down by a quick snow storm.
Fast forward, and I’ve realized Mt. Rainier was only a metaphor of mountains to come:
* who you are tied in with matters
* safety and spectacular aren’t always on the same climb
* left foot, right foot, daily commitments make a pattern
* progress is incremental
